Warm and yet breathable. Great to have the hood option on windy days. Have not worn in the bright sun yet—but looking forward to this summer!!

My New Favorite

After having a few months to test this excellent sun hoodie in a range of conditions, this is my new favorite hiking layer. The fit is excellent, I love the hood, and it works well in both heat and the damp cold of the Cascades and Coast Range (my new mushroom hunting bestie!) I bought this beautiful hoodie to test out for a planned CDT thru hike in 2023, and can feel 100% confident that it’s going to work as well for me in the Bootheel as it will in the mountains. I hiked part of New Mexico in spring ‘22 in a popular synthetic hoodie, but look forward to making miles next year in this beautiful merino wool. My only regret is that I can’t have two ~ one for trail and one for everyday! 10/10 can recommend.

Versatile sun hoody stands up to the test

I just ordered this shirt in two colors to replace the one I ordered only a month before, which tragically was chewed to ribbons by the neighbor's dog while I was sorting laundry upon returning home after this sun hoody's test run on the Colorado River. I'm a Grand Canyon river guide, and I used this shirt to ward off the sun while rowing and hiking for 18 days. This was a shoulder-season trip, and this shirt in dark gray was perfect for the mixed weather we encountered. For rowing and hiking in more intense heat, I've ordered it in a lighter color to deflect the sun better. This shirt will also provide a great base-layer for winter hiking and other sports.
